Jesus takes the festivities of a wedding and uses it to explain the importance of being ready for the Lord’s return.
Five virgins were foolish and did not prepare for the unexpected. Five virgins were wise, bringing an extra flask of oil for their lamps, in case there was a delay.
As a result of their negligence, the foolish ones were not able to enjoy the festivities of the wedding. They were shut out and were not allowed to enter.
Jesus tells you to “Watch” because you don’t know when the Lord is coming back.
