Fact #1: God is in Heaven

• Listen to Matt 5.16  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
• And remember the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9  “Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
• Acts 7:55-56 records when Stephen was being stoned.  “But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

 Fact #2: Jesus is in Heaven

• Jesus was talking about himself in John 6.38  For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.

• The Apostle Paul wrote 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8  and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels  (8)  in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
  • The next time Jesus leaves heaven will have a twofold purpose
    • To collect those who live deliberate lives for him.
    • And to inflict vengeance on two groups

    • Do you believe Jesus, confess his name before people, and have been immersed to remove your sins?

Fact #3: Angels are in Heaven

• But Paul penned a warning in Gal 1.8  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
  • How is this important to you?
  • If your religious group has a preacher that tells you he was told by God this special message, listen, He is cursed by God.
    • His message probably will not match what is in the Bible.
    • You better stop listening to him.

 Fact #4: God’s Will is Done in Heaven

• Remember the Lord’s Prayer:  “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  Matthew 6:10
  • God’s desires are carried out in heaven.
  • And you should be learning his desires for you right now.
  • And we should be doing that will on earth.

Fact #5: There is Authority in Heaven

• Matt 28.18  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
• And then there is Phil 2.10.  “so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”
  • Jesus, who is in heaven, said he possesses all authority everywhere (heaven, earth, and under the earth)
  • So, if he has ALL authority, then you, nor I, have the authority to accept some parts of the Bible, God’s Word, and reject other parts, just because we don’t like it, or it does not fit our current lifestyle.

Fact #6: Heaven is the Point of Origin

• Some mean-spirited Jews had challenged Jesus’ authority on earth.
• Jesus asked them, in Mark 11:30-31  Was the baptism of John from heaven or from man? Answer me.”  (31)  And they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
  • Heaven is where John’s baptism originated
• Paul wrote in Rom 1.18    For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
  • God’s wrath originates in heaven.
  • Are You under his wrath?

 Fact #7: Rewards are waiting in Heaven

• Jesus told those who followed him and endured persecution because of him, in Matt 5.12  “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
• Peter told obedient believers, in 1 Pet 1.4  “to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
  • If we obey all Jesus’ commands and by his grace, we make it through the Pearly Gates, we will have a reward that will last forever, that is protected in heaven.
