What if you were blind?
- How well can you hit the pinata with a stick?
- How would you know if the T-shirt is inside out or not?
- How would you shop for groceries?
- How would you get to town?
- When you are at McDonald, and you go to the restroom, how can you find the braille sign that indicates which is for the men or the ladies?
Now, speaking of spiritual things, If you are blind, how can you find your way to God?
2 Corinthians 4:4
4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Satan is doing his best to hurt God.
He hurts God by making your life worthless.
He gets you to quit, and fail, and give up.
So he wants us to stop looking for God.
He wants us to just close our eyes.
Matthew 13:15 FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.’
Satan does not miraculously cause people to be blind
But he does influence them or tempt them to be lazy, to close their eyes, to not put out the effort needed.
- He wants to them to not care enough about God for them to stop reading their Bibles.
- He does not want them to see God’s truth
- And it is easy to not read
- Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
- It is a spiritually lazy person that puts in no effort toward learning or doing right.
- Satan does not want us to not be diligent
- 2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
- He wants us to not see lives that are growing.
- 2 Peter 1:5-9 ESV For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, (6) and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, (7) and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. (8) For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (9) For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.
