Death IS Permanent

Death IS permanent! It must be! I mean, people live like there is no tomorrow. And they suffer so much for it. It MUST be permanent.

From the way people act, it seems their view is that death IS permanent. YOU may feel that when you die, it is all over. That there is nothing more.

Because you have this view, you spend everything on this moment, right now. Loose women or Loose men, hard drinking, fast cars, feel good pills of any kind. And life is ALL about satisfying your urges. Live it up because tomorrow you may die. You live as close to the edge as you can, just HOPING you don’t fall off.

This permanent view of death leads to behavior that results in broken relationship, lies, sex addiction, alcoholism, insults, rage, drug addiction with its constant crashes, theft, guilt, pain, and everything bad the devil can give you.

Yes from MAN’S perspective, we treat death like it is permanent.

But God has a different view of death. He sees it as a TEMPORARY PAUSE in your eternal existence.

His own Son treated death as if someone was taking a nap.

Jesus was on his way to Jairus’ house to heal his deathly-sick daughter. A servant interrupted the trip with the bad news. The daughter had died.

But because Jesus had a different view of death, he only ask Jairus to believe in him as they continued going to the house. Matthew records (Matthew 9:23-24) “And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,  (24)  he said, “Go away, for the girl is NOT DEAD BUT SLEEPING.” And they laughed at him.” Jesus stopped the laughter by bringing her back to life.

On another occasion, Jesus’ friend Lazarus had died. Jesus told his disciples “Our friend Lazarus has FALLEN ASLEEP, but I go to awaken him.” They did not understand his meaning so he added, “Lazarus has died,” And even after 4 days, Jesus brought Lazarus back to life.

Jesus’ apostle, Paul, wrote to the Corinthian Christians speaking about the people who had seen Jesus after he had been resurrected. He wrote, “Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have FALLEN ASLEEP.”

Paul also said about Jesus, “But in fact Christ has been RAISED FROM THE DEAD, the firstfruits of those who have FALLEN ASLEEP.”

Did Paul view death as permanent or temporary?

And here is a NEWSFLASH for you. “The last enemy TO BE DESTROYED IS DEATH.”

If death is destroyed, then it is certainly NOT PERMANENT. And he told us this more than 2000 years ago.

DEATH HAS NOT BEEN “PERMANENT” SINCE JESUS WAS RESURRECTED.

Your own death will end, too. Your death will end when you are resurrected. Yes, you and EVERYONE who has ever lived will be resurrected. Jesus himself said, “Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when ALL WHO ARE IN THE TOMBS will hear his voice  (29)  and come out, those who have done good to the RESURRECTION of life, and those who have done evil to the RESURRECTION of judgment.”

So, after your own death ends, that is, when you are resurrected, then you will be an eternal being. Then, you will get to meet Jesus. It will either be UNBELIEVABLY GRAND or an ABSOLUTE CATASTROPHE.

Paul wrote, “For we must ALL APPEAR before the judgment seat of Christ, so that EACH ONE may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”

This is when hell and heaven begin, all based on your relationship with Jesus while you live.

DEATH IS NOT PERMANENT. HELL AND HEAVEN WILL BE PERMANENT.
