Isa 53 part 3

How does Jesus Death Benefit you?

OPENING:

Jesus was beaten, bled and died because of our sins

But does his suffering benefit you?

We have you 6 answers.

BODY:

This series of videos from Isa 53 began with show you the scripture itself, with its very vivid language.

Then we examined the REASONS WHY JESUS HAD TO DIE.
We learned together about TRANSGRESSION, INIQUITIES, and MAKING GOD OUR EMENY.

The Previous video examines many of the picturesque violent words that describe what happened to Jesus.

We observed the EMOTION, MENTAL AND PHYSCIAL distress he experienced.

I hope you will go back and view the entire series.

But HOW DOES HIS DEATH BENEFIT YOU?

Isa 53 has some answers, and all of them will help you.

We read verse 4 and find 2 benefits.

Jesus has taken care of both our GRIEFS AND SORROWS.

Both grief and sorrow are the results of sin.

But Jesus conquered the penalty of sin when he died and was resurrected.

If we are obedient and line up with Jesus, our sins are removed. And when sins are removed, there is NO REASON FOR GRIEF; OR SORRY.

The 1st benefits are you have no reason for griefs and sorrows.

The second pair of benefits is in verse 5.

See how it talks about TRANSGRESSIONS AND INIQUITIES.

These are the types of sins that will condemn us to hell.

Transgressions are sins that GO AGAINST God’s commandments.

And Iniquities are actions that GROSSLY UNJUST, whether intentional or accidental.

But Jesus has dealt with these issues too. See how he was PIERCED AND CRUSHED. That is him paying your penalty for your sins. He cleaned up your mess. Now you have the opportunity to stop sinning. That is a HUGE BENEFIT

A 3rd benefit is having PEACE WITH GOD, as  Isaiah says in verse 5.

God disciplined Jesus instead of you. He took the blame for you. We are no longer the ENEMY of God. And PEACE WITH GOD is greater than just the “ceasing of hostilities” This is a positive relationship with God.

NOW, if we are obeying him instead of resisting his commands, we can enjoy going “boldly before his throne of grace in time of need” as said in Hebrews.

Our relationship with God has been reversed. It is a great blessing.

What about a 4th benefit?

How would you like to be GUILT-LESS.?

Verse 10 of Isa 53 tells us that Jesus has made an OFFERING FOR GUILT.

Once offered, like a sacrifice to God, atonement is granted. Jesus atoned for your sins that lead to your guilt.

Again, as before, you have an opportunity to have your sins forgiven through obedience. And with the opportunity comes the possibility of being found before God as guilt-less. So, to be guilt-less will require your obedience. We will tell you about that a little later.

The 5th benefit has to do with God’s anger.

As discussed in WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE, God hates sin. All types, all kinds. He hates it so badly that he would turn his back on his only son. “Matthew 27:46 “… “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

And God hates your sin. And you and I have his wrath pointed at us. God will exact death on us unless something changes.

But Jesus, with the Anguish of his Soul, made the ultimate offering for our sins. And since Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, God accepted the offering.

Verse 11 points out how God is satisfied. His wrath is appeased.

If you, with obedience, accept Jesus’ sacrifice, God’s wrath is not aimed at you any longer.

These 5 benefits are based on our obedient acceptance of God’s grace found in Jesus’ sufferings.

Through obedience, you get all these benefits. Grief and Sorrows removed. Transgressions and Iniquities paid for. Peace with God established. Guilt is gone. God’s wrath is appeased.

So, what is this obedience stuff?

How would you answer the question, “Who is Jesus?” Is he really God’s son? If you know he is, this is faith in Jesus. Bible faith has no end.

And Bible faith also has action. It does something.

This faith causes you to want to change the direction of your life. We will stop listening to ourselves, and the devil. We focus on doing whatever God has told us. He says it. We do it. The Bible word for this is Repentance. We all keep doing this for the rest of our lives.

That same faith in Jesus as God’s son causes me to tell people that you believe. That he is God’s Son. And we will continue saying this to people as long as we believe it. We never stop. The Bible word for this is Confession.

That faith in Jesus leads me to do what he demands. He want us to be baptized. Allowing yourself to be dipped or buried in water for the purpose of removing sin and gaining all the benefits we have been discussing. Mark 16:16 ESV  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. If you believe in Him, submissive baptism is the point of forgiveness that Isaiah was point you toward.

With you now obeying Jesus, He helps you in this new life with Benefit #6.

Isa 53. 12 says he is currently making intercession for the transgressors. We were the transgressors. Be we have been forgiven of all our past sins.

But we will, although we are trying hard, will sin occasionally, unintentionally. And when we continue to Repent, Jesus will serve as our attorney. God’s own son will appear before God himself to plead our case. And with our repentance, and Jesus sacrifice, God Forgives. Again, and again. 1 John 1:7 ESV  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

With these 6 Benefits, there is hope for anyone.
