Who Is Satan?
Who is Satan? and how does he affect you?
Before you start learning Satan, you must remember God.
- God is Good, all the time
- God gives good things.
- Every good and perfect gift is from above. (James 1:17)
- How does God feel about sin?
- Ask Adam and Eve
- Ask Nadab and Abihu after they offered a kind of fire for worship that had not been approved by God.
- Ask Uzzah after he touched the ark while it was moved by the wrong method.
- And don’t forget about Ananias and Saphira when they lied to the H.S. (Acts 5)
- God hates sin, not sinners.
- Sin is an abomination to him, makes him sick to his stomach.
- God is helpful
- God always tells you the truth, the whole truth. No deception.
- He supports and encourages.
- God gives you opportunities to become a triumphant
- He planned a replacement your death due to your sins.
- Jesus died in your place
- So, how valuable are you to God and his Son?
- He is always with you.
- Matthew 28.20. Jesus last works in this book
- Matthew 28:20 ESV teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
- Matthew 28.20. Jesus last works in this book
Now, let’s visit about Satan
- The most important fact to remember about Satan is he is God’s adversary.
- He wants to cause God grief by any method he can.
- Wants to make God sick
- Wants to undo every good thing God has done.
- He wants to cause God grief by any method he can.
- His favorite way to hurt God is by causing humans to sin.
- When we sin, we have paid attention to Satan and not to God
- And this insults God.
- His second best way to hurt God is by causing people problems.
- All people are created by God
- He puts a unique spirit in each person at conception.
- Through many methods, which is in the next video of this series, he brings pain or problems to us
- Getting us to be angry at anyone (CARD: 3 Dangers of Anger)
- Murder
- Slander
- Lies
- Cheating
- Disappointment
- Adultery
- Sexual immorality
- Theft
- This is me talking. Listen to God
- Romans 1:28-32 ESV And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (29) They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, (30) slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, (31) foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. (32) Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
- When Satan:
- Causes you problems
- Destroys your life
- Gets you to self-destruct
- When you sin (we all do – Rom 3:23)
- He is giving grief to God.
- All people are created by God
- With all this trouble & grief he is giving God, it is like he is at war against God.
- But he has LOST this war.
- He, his angels, and everyone who keeps listening to the Devil will be eternally punished.
- Matthew 25:41 ESV “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
- And because God has won the war, anyone (with God’s help) can defeat him.
- Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
- James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- Ephesians 4:27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
- But not everyone is fighting Satan
- 1 John 3:8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
- With God’s help you can stop sinning.
- You can defeat Satan.
- But only by God’s grace and his help.
- When you deliberately decide to keep living for God every minute, you will keep on defeating the devil.
- What are those deliberate decisions? Use the contact page for full details.
- 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 ESV “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (56) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. (57) But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is time to live like victors
- 1 Peter 4:2-3 ESV so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. (3) For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.
