Get the Wolves Out of the Sheep’s Clothes

 

False prophets, sheep, wolves, fruit trees, and fire…sounds like the beginning of a bad nursery rhyme.

Why would a wolf wear sheep’s clothing? What advantage do they gain? And what happens to the sheep?

There are many very nice sounding orators / preachers that can make anyone feel safe, even secure.

But the end result can be the Destruction, Damage, even Death of well-intentioned people, like you!

Today we will equip you with methods and resources to “unclothe” any false teacher in 2025.

INTRO

Jesus was always on the look-out for predatory leaders. He described them as wolves. Matt 7:15-16  “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  (16)  You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?”

Any honest person looking for truth needs to be able to expose any and every preacher. If they are good preachers, we will show you what to look for

But if they take advantage of even 1 person, you need to know the methods to expose them, not only for your sake, but those of your family.

WHAT DID JESUS TELL US TO LOOK FOR?

The product of what they do.

Paraphrase Matt 7.16-20

If the fruit is about themselves, that is the 1st indicator of trouble. Wolves take care of themselves and not the sheep.

Think about it. How do men like Joel Osteen live? What type of car? Big house? Jet?

But the givers, the “sheep”, may be struggling with 300,000 mile Corolla and renting a tiny apartment.

What is wrong with this picture?

What kind of teaching do they have?

What they say and teach may make you feel very good about yourself.

They may tickle your ears (2 Tim 4:3 reference/quote)

They may teach that everyone is going to go to heaven.

But what does the Bible Say?

Matthew 7:14  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

HOW CAN I DISTINGUISH TRUE TEACHERS FROM FALSE ONES?

Simple. Do what the Bereans did.

Tell of Paul traveling to Berea and his teaching in the synagogue.

These people thought Paul & Silas might be wolves.

Read Acts 17:11  “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”

The Bible can expose any preacher if he is more interested in himself than his “flock”.

HOW CAN I RECOGNIZE THE PRODUCT OF THEIR TEACHING?

First, Know the book.

What can it do for you?

2 Timothy 3:16-17  all scripture is given by inspiration of god, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  (17)  that the man of god may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
