Baptism Script

Hi. I am just returning from a funeral. It was really sad. No. It was really useless. Unnecessary. You see, the doctor laid out a simple plan of meds and therapy. My friend was doing the therapy, but he refused to take the meds. He wasted away and died. No need to die.

Hey, can you hold on just one moment?

(video to black; black to video)

Oh, thanks.

Too many people say they are committed to Jesus. But when they get to baptism they get all stubborn about it. They refuse.

Maybe they don’t have the right information.

What is baptism?

Is it really necessary?

What does it do?

What happens in baptism?

Who can be baptized?

What does it look like?

These are really good questions. I got really good answers. They’re straight ahead.

Intro

I am very hopeful that you have already watched the previous 3 videos in this series. (links are below). If you are about to start here, your understanding will be very limited.

For your sake, please go back and watch the video on Belief, Repentance, and Confession/Acknowledgement first.

Any person who tries to jump to baptism without the other 3 parts is doing nothing more than getting wet. Shortening the process will not work.

So what is baptism?

The word baptidzo in the New Testament means to dip or plunge, or immerse. Romans 6 speaks of it as a burial. Completely covered, just like everyone in the cemetery is completely covered. Baptism is a burial but in water. But don’t panic. You don’t stay buried. You are raised.

Baptism is the re-enactment of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus. As you have come to believe and act on your belief, you have come to realize that everyone does things that God has told us NOT TO DO. Or we have FAILED to do the things God has told us TO DO. Both of these He labels as sin. God’s punishment for these misbehaviors is death. Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death, …”

For you to have the fabulous life we all want, you MUST reverse your actions. You must stop doing wrong and replace it with Jesus’ always-right ways.

So, just as Jesus died for the sinful (Rom 5:8), you “die” to your own selfish ways and are “buried” in a water grave.

But you don’t stay there. God resurrected Jesus, and you are “resurrected”, that is raised from the water grave. Rom 6:3-4 says it like this. “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his DEATH?  (4)  We were BURIED therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as CHRIST WAS RAISED from the dead by the glory of the Father, WE TOO might walk in NEWNESS OF LIFE.”

The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is re-enacted in baptism.

What happens at baptism?

There are many answers to this question. I will give you a few, and if you want more, please call or text the number on the screen. Provide the information necessary, and I will get you more answers quickly.

Answer #1. Sins are forgiven. (Acts 2:38). All your wrongs are forgiven. The penalty for all those sins is canceled.

Answer #2. To start a new life. (Rom 6:3-4). Just like we read a moment ago. A restart. You get a re-do. And that is the subject of the next video.

Answer #3. To save your eternal soul. “Mark 16:16  Whoever believes AND IS BAPTIZED will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Belief in Jesus, with its desire to do something, is added to baptism. This combo equals being saved. (Belief + Baptism = Saved).

Who can be baptized?

Anyone who can BELIEVE that Jesus is God’s son.

Anyone who CAN DECIDE TO REVERSE, OR REPENT of Satan’s ugliness and start being a disciple of Jesus.

Anyone who can ACKNOWLEDGE Jesus as God’s son and their Lord or boss.

Obviously, a baby is not capable of belief or acknowledging Jesus as their Lord. So they are not candidates.

And any small child that does not understand sin and its destructive consequences is not capable of making the required changes. So they are not candidates either.

But if you are watching this video, you are very likely a very suitable candidate. You can be baptized.

What does baptism look like?

Just before Covid came along, I was blessed to speak at a congregation in Tanzania, Africa using an interpreter. After speaking, this lady made her decision and requested baptism. You may not understand Swahili, but you will see her be buried and resurrected in water. Just watch. (Video of a lady being immersed)

And here is another man, in India being immersed to have his sins removed. You may not understand Indian greetings or Telegu, but you will see him buried and resurrected. Again, just watch. (Video of a man being immersed)

Oh, I almost forgot something very important. There is something about baptism that is NOT like Belief, Repentance, or Confession. These you continue all your Christian life. But baptism is different in 2 ways. First, baptism is something done TO YOU, like the lady and the man you saw. Second, you do it ONLY ONCE in a lifetime. Think about it. How many times was Jesus buried or resurrected? Just once, forever.

Are you needing baptism for forgiveness? Do you want a fresh start at life? Pick up your phone and call this number right now. Leave a message, and include your contact information. You could text it, too. Or go to the contact form and send us an email. We will help you become everything God wants for you. Just do it now.

Then, finish the series with the last video.

Thank you for watching. May God bless you with the most important decision you can make in this life.

Until we can visit again, goodbye for now.
