Most Valuable Thing in the World Transcript

What do you think is the most valuable thing on the face of the earth?

I’ve found what I believe is. It’s, simply put, the blood of Christ. The precious blood of Christ.  But the question you have is, if that’s the most valuable thing there is, “How do I find it? How do I make use of it?” That’s what we want to talk about for a moment.

Intro

The reason I believe it to be the most valuable thing on the face of the earth is that’s the thing that the Bible says saves us. And who isn’t interested in salvation? Being saved may be the deepest longing that any person has.

Now, if it is the only thing that God has given that can save us, then that question of how do we find it becomes of extreme importance.

I found an answer in the New Testament and I want to share it with you. You know, two things that are equal to the same thing. are equal to each other. That’s an old math principle, but it’s true in the spiritual realm as well. And let me show you there is a strong connection between the blood of Christ and what the scriptures call baptism.

In, in giving the Lord’s supper, In Matthew 26:28, Jesus had taken the cup and he said, “Take and drink, all of you, because this is the blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.”  Now when you flip over a few pages in your Bible to Acts 2, when Peter is preaching on the day of Pentecost, his sermon gets interrupted by people wanting to know the answer to this very question.

And he says, (Acts 2:38) “repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.” Oh, isn’t that interesting?  The blood, is for the forgiveness of sins. Baptism, is for the forgiveness of sins.  We’re saved by the blood of Christ.  But we find that blood of Christ, we make contact with it when we’re baptized.

You know, if that’s the only time in Scripture that I could find something like that, I’d still be impressed with it. But when I get to looking, I find a couple of other places that are very much pointed in the same direction.

Here’s one. Revelation 1:5  The old King James Bible says, “Now to him who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” Washed from our sins in his own blood.  And yet when Saul was approached by Ananias the preacher and asking what he needed to do, Ananias said, (Acts 22:16) Now why do you tarry? Arise and be baptized and Wash away your sins…”

The blood washes away our sins. Baptism is washing away sin.  Baptism is that act in which we come in contact with the saving blood of Christ.

Let me give you another one. Hebrews 9:14 talks about the washing of our conscience by the blood of Christ. But in 1 Peter 3:21,  Peter says that baptism is “not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God.”  The blood cleanses our conscience, Baptism cleanses our conscience.

There are several things that point me in the direction of knowing that the most important, the most valuable thing in all the world, the blood of Christ that saves us.  It’s ours when we are baptized into Christ.

I’d love for you to know more about this. There’s a lot more to learn and we’ll have numbers on the screen if you want to give us a call and leave a message or send a text. Or if you want to contact us through a website, all that information is on the screen.

We would love to hear from you and share with you some more about how you can have the most precious thing in the world.
