Finding Yourself (What Kind of Person?)

How do you find out if you are the kind of person you ought to be? We have an answer.

Currently I am reading a book that has been loaned to me. It was given to me so I’m at read and determine subjects that might be needed here on YouTube.

at this point in time I have not read the entire book, but subjects that are worthy of our attention are being seen.

the book is written two men for men to develop their own  selves into the kind of person they dream about and that women would want to be around.

the writer describes how we ought to be in search of the things that bring us satisfaction in our heart.

• He said, “if we are to ever find ourselves, we must find what God meant by (the expression) ‘man’. What has he set in the masculine heart? Instead of asking what you think you ought to be doing to become a better man, I want to ask what makes you come alive? What stirs your heart? The journey we face now is into a land foreign to most of us. We must head into country that has no clear Trail.?”

The writer has made an assumption that need to stand in our minds clearly

1. The first assumption is that Men are capable of finding themselves by their own searching

this is the type of thinking resonates that so many men and some women in America have. the American Spirit is to pick oneself up by his own bootstraps. we praise men who have taken difficult situations in their family life and overcame the obstacles to become great powerful men successful at whatever they do.

but how do you go about gaining this American type of success.

• is it by trial and error as we searched every nook and cranny for the secret that we must be missing somewhere?
• is it in Reading self-help books?
• are watching hours and hours on YouTube?

Should I search for myself and fulfillment through wine or other alcoholic drinks. Is it found in all that fun that we have in drinking Royal Crown and Budweiser and Miller Lite? Even if it causes me to throw up again and again? Even though I will say things and relationships I’ve had will be ended by my words? even though I will have a hangover day after day? even though I am destroying my body?

Or should I become a master architect or I could struction manager

• Or I build them near rivers overlooking vast expanses of beautiful land?
• or should I find myself through making Gardens and Parks or everyone can enjoy including myself?

or can I find myself bye becoming a very successful farmer or a Rancher with more cattle than you can count?

will my heart be satisfied when I have more money than mr. Bloomberg order or anyone else that is very wealthy?

• I need multiple people to take care of my laundry
• in fix my meals
• and drive me around in a limousine?

will I be fulfilled by becoming a great singer and Entertainer

• where crowds and masses of people flock to where I’m going to sing?

what about acquiring things?

• Will that Satisfy My Heart?
• Is that the adventure that I need to be taking to fill this void in my life?
• I can have Rolex watches and
• drive the finest cars and
• wear Gucci clothing?

or should I combined idea number 1 and 3 or 2 and 7 or is it one three and five I got to have to be successful with my own heart?

all these different searches that you can go on, these adventures in life that appear to be something many people dream on and long for and yearn to be or all nothing more then the wind.

• this was what the writer of the Bible Book of Ecclesiastes attempted.
• All these different type of things we have just mentioned come from Ecclesiastes chapter 2.
• and his conclusion was it’s like chasing the wind.
• It’s all vanity.
• It does not satisfy the heart.
• All the “trial and error” is a useless effort.

Jeremiah 10:23  I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

What did the writer of Ecclesiastes conclude at the end of his life and at the end of this book

Ecclesiastes 12:9-14  Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care.  (10)  The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth.  (11)  The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd.  (12)  My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.  (13)  The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  (14)  For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Now that we know what does not work, maybe you’re asking the question “what does work”.

God.

• He created you.
• He understands your needs
• But he is to be feared and respected.
  • He alone is sovereign.
• He loves
• He cares
• He sent his son
• His son showed us how to live contented.
• Jesus showed us that service to others is vital to inner peace.
  • Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
  • Service gives purpose and meaning, and fulfillment.

But this is what Solomon was saying when he said the conclusion was to

• Fear God
• Do what he says — serve.
  • Serve God
  • Serve other people.
